No, Despite the Title, It's Not a Crossover.

'Bout time I actually did one of these challenges. This one's 100 words. Set PGP or AU, or something.

I Am Not a Number

Blake stands before a cabinet in what used to be the Federation Vault of Records.

Inside the cabinet... is him. His life, his memories, neatly stored away on tape and disc and helpful index cards. Everything they took from his mind, safely held for future use. An apt metaphor, he thinks, for what the Federation did to everyone. Human beings reduced to numbers, stuck in drawers, left to collect dust on their neatly-filed souls.

He spills the records across the floor in a jumbled heap. All of them, not just his. Then he burns them. Now they can be free.

Glad to hear it! I don't know that I'm super happy with the wording of it, myself, but I'm just glad to have finally written something for this place, after blowing it off for far too long. :)

You know, I never quite know what to make of a response like that... ;)

Sorry, I'd been drinking wine, and am now in shock about how just many DVDs are being posted to me in payment for a job I'm doing for a certain person.

I liked your drabble though.

Eh, I'm sure things fell apart horribly right after that. Possibly due to the fact that the complete lack of any sort of record-keeping plunged post-Federation society into chaos. ;)

The maintenance records on the sewage system... now, destroying that was an error....

I like the story... but I wonder if some of those people would have liked the chance to choose whether or not to know what had been taken from them.

It was *very* Blake, though. :^)

Heh. Yeah, you go tell Blake that. I'll wait here. :)

*grins* I think I will. I quite enjoy a good argument with him.

Ooh, very good. I can also see Blake doing something like that and not thinking about the consequences...
